WOLF Cluster

The WOLF cluster is a group of computers that are used for teaching and research work at the National Centre for Biomolecular Research (NCBR), which is an institute of the Faculty of Science, Masaryk University. The cluster consists of 23 computers that are located in the computer room 118 and 3 computers located in the server room 1S18 in the C04 building at University Campus Bohunice.

The computer room 118 is open on weekdays from 8 to 20 o’clock and is accessible for students that have classes there and to other students that work on their bachelor's, master's and doctoral thesis at the National Centre for Biomolecular Research in time that does not collide with classes. If the room is locked, ask for the opening at the secretariat. You can also access computers remotely.

The cluster computers run Ubuntu Linux operating system in a desktop version. Installation of the cluster including software (computational chemistry, chemo- and bioinformatics, structural biology) provides an environment, which can be found at large supercomputing centers such as MetaCenter, CERIT-SC, and IT4Innovation. Acquiring skills in the environment of WOLF is, therefore, a good starting point for the efficient use of computing resources.

Automatic Cluster Shutdown and Remote Access

Automatic shutdown of workstations is activated on the cluster. If necessary, individual nodes can be switched on remotely and use the remote desktop from a web browser, see Internal section > Remote Access.

Accounts

To access the cluster WOLF, users must have e-INFRA accounts and be valid members of virtual organizations NCBR@MUNI and/or CEITEC@MUNI. Information about obtaining an account or how to change the existing one (e.g., to reset forgotten passwords) is provided at the einfra.ncbr.muni.cz portal.
